We are having a good season so far with our Lady Warriors for the month of November to now. I had 26 students athletes the first day that where determine to learn the game of basketball. Most of the kids didn’t know the fundamentals of basketball. But through hard work and dedication with practices on Fridays, Saturday’s and Sundays. They have been learning the terminology of basketball. Learning what is a triple threat, Pistol Pete drills, cross overs, and how to play the game of basketball through fundamentals. The enjoy drills such as half-moon, 3 man passing, King of the Ring, King of the court and defense drills, just to name a few of the drills. With all these key components with hard work, dedication and discipline. They well carrier there work ethics over to school and life.

Here is a brief update to our basketball season and thank you for taking the time to read it. Have a great day.

The Lady Warriors Basketball Program kicked off on October 29, 2018.  I had a total of 39 players who tried out for the team.  The girls had 2 days of running the cross country course to show their endurance.  We finally got the chance to get into the gym.  During tryouts, the girls worked on running, foot drills, jumping, dribbling, shooting, passing.  During the week of tryouts the girls worked hard to make the team.  On November 8, the final cuts were made for the team.  Twenty girls were selected for the Lady Warriors Basketball Team for the season.

The team had their first game on Nov. 27 against Black Mesa.  The girls lost the first game of the season by creating turnovers and missing shots.  They quickly learned from their mistakes and did an awesome job for the 2nd game.  The team traveled to Tiis Naz Bas and played against the Lady Bears.  The Lady Warriors won the game by correcting their mistakes from the previous game.  The team will be traveling to Tsaile for the Tsaile Falcons Basketball Tournament on Dec. 1.

Come and support the Lady Warriors basketball team for the season.  The basketball schedules can be picked up at the front office.  Thank you for your support.  Go Lady Warriors!!!

This is my first season as the Boys Basketball coach and first time as a Head Coach for basketball, I have been coaching for 8 seasons mostly with football and only 2 seasons with basketball. I was an assistant coach with Rough Rock High School for seasons 2015 and 2016. I learned all of the basketball coaching philosophies from Coach Brandon Tso, thanks to Coach Tso I have got the opportunity to become a Head Coach.

My expectations for the team is learn the FUNDAMENTALS, teamwork, be unselfish, and to keeping up with grades. Basketball is just a privledge and lucky to have a basketball program here at M.F.C.S. I will be reminding them daily that they are STUDENT-athletes, SCHOOL comes FIRST. The student-athletes are role models for everyone at M.F.C.S. and I expect the student-athletes to represent themselves and their families with pride and respect. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING WARRIORS BASKETBALL!!! GO WARRIORS!!
